Using Reviews on a Resume

Using Reviews on a ResumeWriting reviews on a resume can be done, in fact it is something that many people do every day. People write reviews as a way to express what they think of certain products and services. Reviews can be written for many different things.Consumers write reviews on a resume, so that the employer can see how much they like them. A review can also show what the person will do for a company. The general idea behind the writing of reviews is to promote the person's skills and abilities in a positive light. The resumes that are reviewed, are often sent to people who are applying for jobs. A good writer may be hired for the job by just posting their reviews online. Others will send the reviews to people who have shown interest in the person's resume. The review can also be posted on a regular basis on an online forum, such as Yahoo Answers, or any other site that offers online discussion. Writers can find out how the other people feel about the person's resume and will generally make comments on the review, which gives the writers an idea of what kind of job they might get. The comments will be made in a polite tone, in order to make sure that the writers stay out of trouble with the employer.Having a good writer to write reviews can increase the chances of someone getting the job. Even if the person is not a good writer, he or she will be able to write about what they are going to do for the company, and if they are strong, they can sell themselves to employers who hire from the resume. This makes the resume better for the employer, because if the resume can speak for itself, then the employer will not have to spend money in hiring another employee.Good writers can help get the person noticed by others, and sometimes this is all that is needed to get the person hired. It is important that the resume be written well, because the person has to prove to the employer that he or she is worth hiring. Any errors will make the person look bad to the empl oyer. Some people claim that writing reviews on a resume can help improve the chances of getting a job in the future. Others say that reviews are not necessary. Whatever the case, writing reviews is one of the best ways to promote your skills and abilities for a possible future career.

5 Secrets To Staying Upbeat In A Job Search - Work It Daily

5 Secrets To Staying Upbeat In A Job Search - Work It Daily 5 Secrets To Staying Upbeat In A Job Search Let’s say you’ve decided you just might possibly (maybe) want to look for a new job. What kind of thoughts go through your head? “Great! I’ll have my dream job in no time!” “Let me make a list of all the things I need to do and people I need to contact. Time to get busy!” “I’m the best person I know for that job! They will absolutely hire me.” OR... “I don’t have the time/energy/knowledge/contacts to find a new job right now. I’ll wait until something in my life changes.” “No one’s going to hire me. I don’t have the right experience / I’m too old /I talk funny and drive the wrong car.” “I can’t do this. It’s too overwhelming.” If you see yourself in the first list, you are ahead of the game. Because I can assure you that many people struggle with feelings of doubt, discouragement, or dismay at the perceived effort of a job search. Related: 10 Reasons Happy People Get More Job Opportunities We often undertake a job search just when we’re feeling at our lowest: when we’ve been fired or laid off; when we’ve had a life-changing event such as a move, a death, or a divorce that’s rocked our world; or when we’ve buckled under the weight of the very last straw in our current job situation. But even in more pleasant circumstances, such as graduation or when we’re choosing to look for a new career path without an unpleasant catalyst, it can be hard to stay positive throughout a job search. Let’s face it: finding a job is work. And sometimes the payoff for all of our effort seems too far-off and uncertain to seem worth it. 5 Secrets To Staying Upbeat In A Job Search So, what can you do to stay motivated and upbeat throughout a job search? 1. Keep your eye on the prize. Remind yourself what you will have after you get this next/better job. More security? Opportunity? Better health? Wealth? Peace of mind? You are going through this process for a reason, and that reason is going to make it all worthwhile. 2. Set goals. What do you need to do in order to get the new job, the “prize” you’re after? Update your resume? Touch base with those people you know that may know of openings or networking opportunities within your chosen company or industry? Join an organization â€" Toastmasters is a great one for job seekers â€" that will help you meet people or learn to present yourself better? Set up some informational interviewing? Find jobs to apply to? List your overall goals and then break them into smaller steps, and soon you’ll be eating your job search elephant one bite at a time. 3. Think positive. Did I hear you laughing? Yeah, I know it seems odd to tell you to think positive in order to be positive. And, believe me, I know it’s hard to be positive about a process where you could be rejected. I know it’s hard to have so much uncertainty when you just want things to fall into place, and want it to happen within your own timeline. It’s hard, but do it anyway. Focus on the positive about your situation, and choose to be optimistic. Negativity is counterproductive, because: 1) it will scare away the people that you want to hire you (yes, they can sense your attitude), and 2) it saps your energy, will, and confidence… making it less likely that you’ll make any progress in your job search. 4. Take action. Remember those goals? Keep your list handy, and choose one thing you can work on today. Tomorrow, do another. Celebrate every step you take to a better future! Everything you accomplish will help you feel more in control. 5. Choose cheerleaders. You’re bound to get discouraged sometimes, no matter how hard you try to stay positive. Find supportive people you can turn to when that happens, so they can remind you of your strengths, commiserate, or simply lend an ear. One secret technique I use for staying upbeat is to keep a folder of nice things people have said about me or my work, or projects I’m especially proud of. It never fails to give me the boost I need when things feel tough. Keeping positive can be challenging, but it’s important. Any career change is hard to commit to, but it's that commitment, forward momentum, and endurance that will help job seekers to reach their goal. Staying inspired, and having a positive attitude, is critical if you are in it for the long haul. And take it from me, reaching that end-goal--and having a career that makes you feel satisfied and proud--is absolutely worth it. If you’d like help with any of the things on the above list, I hope you’ll reach out to me or another career coach. We care about your career success â€" that’s what makes us happy. Gender diversity provides huge benefits in the workplace. pWhile some industries have made significant advancements in gender diversity, some industries lag further behind... and the construction industry is well-known for being in the latter category. If someone says, construction workers, youll likely picture a group of men in yellow hard hats analyzing an architects p lans or laying bricks on top of a scaffold. And men at work signs only help to reinforce this image.pThis stereotype is rooted in reality. When was the last time you actually spotted a woman on a construction site? Or hired a female plumber or carpenter? Your answer is most likely never. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statisticsreports that only 3.4% of the total of 8.3 million construction employees are women.pBut the construction industry has a lot more to offer than steel-toed boots and hard hats, and it needs women to help advance the industry in this era of rapid change. Here are 5 reasons why women joining the workforce or looking to make a pivot should consider a career in construction.h21. Fuel Innovation/h2pNot only is diversity the socially and morally right thing to do, but it is also actually an excellent business strategy. pResearch presented in the Harvard Business Reviewshows that diverse teams develop more innovative ideas. This is further supported by a study conducte d by Gallupon the performance of gender-diverse teams versus single-gender teams, which found that the difference in backgrounds and perspectives led to better business performance and problem-solving. h22. Capitalize on Demand/h2pThe construction industry is currently experiencing a labor shortage. The industry itself is booming and projected to be one of the fastest-growing industries, with total spending projected to exceed $1.45 trillion in 2023/a. However, most construction companies are unable to meet the rising demand. pAccording to the Associated General Contractors of America/a, more than 80% of contractors are experiencing difficulties filling hourly craft positions that represent the bulk of the construction workforce.pAnd demand isnt limited to individual contributor roles. Given the industry boom, there are a number of open stable and high-paying roles (any project managers out there?) waiting for the right candidateh23. Leadership Opportunities/h2pAccording to the Bure au of Labor Statistics/a, women compose only 7.7% of the total 1 million managerial positions in construction.br/pBut given the highly collaborative nature of construction work, more women in leadership roles would help drive innovation and enhance productivity.Furthermore, as a woman in construction in a leadership position, youd have the unique opportunity to drive change for the industry and make it a more attractive option for other women.h24. High-Income Potential/h2pSalaries for many skilled positions in construction are on the rise, making a construction career a prime choice for women looking for a high-paying job,pThe 2018 Construction Craft Salary Surveyconducted by the National Center for Construction Education and Research revealed that salaries for many skilled craft areas are increasing. Project managers and project supervisors topped the list at $92,523 and $88,355, respectively. The next set of highest-paying jobs include those of combo welders ($71,067), instrumenta tion technicians ($70,080), pipe welders ($69,222), power line workers ($68,262) and industrial electricians ($67,269). Of the 32 categories of workers in the survey, 19 positions earned an average salary of $60,000 or higher.h25. Sense of accomplishment/h2p The construction industry can give employees a unique sense of achievement. Yes, the job is stressful and the work can be demanding, but nothing beats the feeling of being able to build something from the ground up. pHow many professionals in other industries can point at a school, a hospital, or a skyscraper and say I helped build that?pThe construction industry has a long way to go in combating gender bias and supporting women in the workforce, but given the current demand for workers, theres no better time to pick up a sledgehammer (figurative or literal) and smash the gender stereotypes plaguing the construction industry.

How speaking up changed my financial future

How speaking up changed my financial futureHow speaking up changed my financial futureYou talk. You talk to friends about the drab. To partners about the day-to-day. You call your mama with the big UH OH and your sages about the dream of dreams. It doesnt matter if its vulnerable and it rarely matters if its mundane talking is your way through the process and onto the plan. The ones that love you they always offer honest feedback. The ones who trust you theyre going to open up about their experiences too.The ones who support you theyll give you the space to talk about any and all of it.But are you talking about the things that matter? Are you opening up about the topic thats the fruchtweinsignificant source of stressfor the majority of Americans? Are you talking to anyone about money?I welchesnt. My journey around the money conversation was one that literallyneveroccurred to me until coming across an incredibly human, honesty-driven manahme by Umpqua Bank calledMade to Grow which is a call to talk more about money and the consequences if we dont(read crazy stress). That hadsobeen me. As a young woman building my career in one of the most expensive cities in the US, I thought I was so alone alone in spending most of what I made. alone in my frustration with student loans. alone in the judgement I held for myself in having no retirement plan (yet). alone in having meager emergency savings. alone in feeling like I should most definitely be making more but was scared pantless to ask.So I bottled up every financial concern I had. I kept it in and kept the lid tight. For someone who would sharemostthings if they came up bathroom floor moments, passport agency meltdowns, heartbreak and screw ups I feltwildlyuncomfortable and even embarrassed to talk about money. Partially because at this time in my life I prided myself on having it all together and partially because I didnt know how to talk about it or who to talk about it with. As much as I love my parents and they re both killer at talking these things through with, I was too scared to even do that.I had created a self-imposed gag order that was keeping my pride in check. Thats about it.That order lifted, almost instantly, when I heard a small factoid that one of the biggest factors contributing to my ability to negotiate for a higher salary was whether or not I was speaking about it with my friends.Lightbulb.With even my best of friends, I wasnt talking about how much I made, how much their raises were, how their reviews went, or what they negotiated for. That day, though, I began talking about it with my best friends and roommates. Then, I started talking about it with other friends sharing my salary and asking if they were comfortable to share theirs. I remember those firsts vividly, it was like a massive gate moving aside opening the way to so much shared knowledge and support amongst my tribe.Heres what happened after those conversations about salary they turned into broader conversatio ns about money. We talked about student debt, we talked about our biggest financial mistakes, we supported each other in making our girls night dinner at home instead of the hottest new SF restaurant. We gut checked business plans and saving plans. And most of all we learned through our own stories and through our belief in each other about how to shift our relationship with money.I havent been the same since. Speaking up about money with those closest to me pointed a spotlight on my fears. It made them manageable, and it gave me the confidence to shift from a place of fear into a place of prosperity. I started investing in resources that could help my financial future. I made goals for my money. I pushed, sometimes uncomfortably, to be making what I deserved.A little over three years after lifting my own gag order around the topic of finances I found myself in a better place one where I was financially supported enough to take a giant leap of faith to begin my own business and pas sionately pursue my own dreams. While its an amazing (and scary) step, it presents its own set of financial challenges and fears. But this time around I have the confidence to talk about it and the support ordnungsprinzip to learn from.People cannot be there for you unless youre first willing to open the conversation and share your worries, your struggles, and your dreams.Speaking up about money changed my future. Its time you let it change yours. This article originally appeared on MaxieMcCoy.com.
